Spring is officially here, Modern Philosophers! I know this because today’s post is coming to you live from the front porch of The House on the Hill, where I am basking in the sun’s warm glow. I’ve looked up and down the block several times, and can happily report that there is no sign of snow. We’re finally free!
I’m sure many of you lost sleep last night, after reading my previous post, wondering if I would actually get back out there and run for the second day in a row. I appreciate the self-inflicted insomnia on my behalf.
The answer is “Yes!”, I did go for a run. It was too beautiful of a morning for any of my usual slacker excuses to work. Any time I can put on shorts and give my neighbors the gift of checking out my legs, I go for it. I have to admit that I do enjoy sweating a little on a sunny day. It just seems like the perfect way to get the day started, and as much as I hate running, I do enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with logging a few miles.
Today’s exercise went much better than yesterday’s as my body had some time to adjust to the shock of my wanting to voluntarily generate sweat and increase my heart rate. There was no one else out on the road, that annoying Winter wind was gone, and I managed to trim two minutes off of yesterday’s three mile time.
I know. It had to be the shorts. Once my legs were freed up from months of confinement, they were bound to bust out and show off. I didn’t hear any wolf whistles, but then again, I was listening to my MP3 player.
And because I am a total dork, I did email this photo of my legs to The Girl Who Will Always Be My Running Partner to show her what she’s missing while she is off studying her cute butt off in another time zone. Figured I might as well bring a little sunshine to her life since I am enjoying an abundance of it here today.
Hope your day is off to a wonderful start, too, Modern Philosophers. What are you doing on this Sunny Sunday? Happy Spring!
