I just came home from voting, Modern Philosophers! I wrote my name in for every race listed on the ballot. I really think I have a shot at being named to the School Board as voter turnout was low. Fingers crossed!
Of course, 2014 is the big election year in Maine. We get to vote for a new Governor. The current one, Paul LePage, can’t possibly be re-elected, can he? The only way I see him winning is if he clones himself numerous times, but even then, I don’t think his clones would vote for him.
Mayor McCheese, the Independent Party candidate for Governor, is way ahead of LePage in all the polls. One might say (and I’m going to say it since this is my blog and I can say anything I want) that McCheese’s lead is Super Sized!
Apparently, Governor LePage sees the writing on the wall. Several sources within the LePage administration told this Modern Philosopher that the embattled Governor spent Election Day working on his concession speech.
“He wasn’t working on writing it,” one source clarified. “It was already done, and he was practicing giving it. They’ll need to bleep out a lot of it when they show it on TV.”
At least we have that to look forward to next year. We just need to survive one more year with that “character” (I’ll keep it clean since this is a family friendly blog) in charge of things. Hopefully, he doesn’t do too much damage.
So what about you, Modern Philosophers? Did you all vote? Any exciting races in your home states? Any weird measures on the ballot?
Even thought this was an off year for Maine, I still made sure to cast my vote. I think people sometimes forget how lucky we are to have a say in who represents us and how our country is run. Hope you never forget those things, Modern Philosophers.
Happy Election Day!
Agree or disagree with LePage, the guy ain’t shy.
True. I think Mayor McCheese smells much better. 🙂
Have you actually smelled Mayor McCheese?
Every time I interview him, I make sure to take a big whiff. Plus, his scent deliciously fills any room hes’ in…
i voted this am, nothing too exciting here, my local guy made it onto the city council, but in the city of detroit, a crazy mayoral race as usual.
Detroit still exists? I thought it went bankrupt and got sold to Canada… 🙂
ah, it shall rise from the ashes, don’t count it out just yet. and there is sure to be lots of drama along the way
🙂
Nothing exciting in my district. Half the races didn’t even have a second candidate.
Did you write yourself in on those races like I did???
