Who Dressed The Pilgrims?

PilgrimsDo you think

The Pilgrims

Always dressed

Like they were going

To a funeral?

Maybe the reason

They were

Giving thanks

Was because

They knew a boat

Would soon arrive

With the new

Spring fashions.

Flirt with color,

Plymouth Colony.

Dress for success,

Not for duress.

You’ll thank me

For the tip.

  1. My guess?
Way beck then—they didn’t have washing machines or running water in their homes, so they preferred plain dark colors.
Darkness hides many things (including dirt), so wearing dark clothes meant they didn’t have to go down to the river to do laundry as often. They might have been quite thankful to have that funeral look!

  2. Too bad polartec wasn’t around back then. More of them would have survived that first terrible winter.
