After The Ball Dropped

New YearJanuary 1:

New day,

New year,

Clean slate.

What do

You do

With your

Fresh start?

Do you make

The most of it?

Or do you

Just act

Like it’s

Still 2013?

Are you stuck

In the past?

The ball

Has dropped.

Do you pick

It up

And run?

Or do you

Stand there,

Staring?

Happy New Year.

Do something.

Isn’t that what

We’re supposed

To do?

  1. I’m not hung over (I didn’t drink and didn’t even make it till midnight!)..but I’m feeling foggy. Maybe I’ll start the new year with a bang tomorrow……

Nope. I continue on into the future, writing with the same joy as last year and looking forward to my book being published soon. I’m frightened out of my mind, hoping people won’t hate it, but I can’t not do it. Hmmm…..that didn’t come out quite right.

  3. I saw an interesting article on “The Guardian” this morning that suggested that instead of resolutions we take on what it called “Themes;” things like mindfulness, getting outdoors, focusing on nutrition; stuff like that. I thought about it for a while and then decided that all of this stuff is rubbish. Generally doing thinks you’ll deem worthwhile in the long run is something we should always do, new years or not.
Oh, and there’s nothing wrong with just plain having fun 🙂

Gotta say… I did very little today, by way of recovering from last night, but! Soon enough, soon enough… Happy New Year, Austin!

  5. Very thoughtful thought of yours.
