Today is Maine’s 194th birthday, Modern Philosophers!
This is why the internet is so amazing. I had no idea that today was the Pine Tree State’s big day, but then I saw a post about it on my Facebook news feed. Who says that social media rots your mind?
I have sent several Happy Birthday tweets to my adopted state, and shared them with The Nite Show in hopes that they will use some of them in the show’s Twitter feed. I would share them with you here, but why not just follow me on Twitter and read them for yourself? You can find me @Austin_Hodgens, or just click on the little gizmo in the right margin of the blog to instantly join me on Twitter.
I don’t think anything special is planned to celebrate Maine’s birthday, which is a major disappointment. How about a little state pride, people? I guess the fault for this lies with Governor LePage, who probably completely forgot to send out the invitations to the official state birthday party. Typical LePage.
I suppose Mainers will give the state a belated birthday present by voting LePage out of office on Election Day!
Since nothing official seems to be planned, I thought I would use my blog as a platform to wish Maine a Happy 194th Birthday.
Would you please leave some birthday wishes in the comments section? I’ll make sure that Maine reads all of them.
I’ll get the ball rolling right here…Happy Birthday, Maine! Thanks for taking me in and treating me like one of your own. I love living here, but if you could do something about the Winters, life would be perfect!
What do you say, Modern Philosophers? Will you wish Maine a Happy Birthday? Making it to 194 is a major achievement, so let’s celebrate it!
Maine reminds me a lot of East Texas – tons of trees and water. This is a good thing. Maine is a great place to live and raise kids. I really like it here.
The bad thing about Maine is that we can smell Massachusetts from here. 😀
Ha! It’s like when I used to live in Brooklyn and could smell New Jersey all the time. Ugh! 🙂
