Hump Day Snow Shoveling Society

Austin seriousHappy Hump Day, Modern Philosophers!

I was up at the crack of dawn since I knew there would be a delivery of fresh snow waiting for me, courtesy of my good friend, Snow Miser.

The only question was: How much snow would be surrounding The House on the Hill on this lovely Wednesday morning?

As a former Boy Scout, I am always prepared, so I put out my snow shoveling gear before going to bed, set the alarm an hour earlier, and prayed I wouldn’t have nightmares of Snow Miser all night.

After getting dressed and feeding the kitties (Cali and Luna say “Good Morning!”), I headed outside with my trusty shovel to do battle.

There was still a light snow and freezing rain mix.  Snow Miser had obviously decided to get a little creative and sent me a Holiday Sampler.

The snow was maybe two inches at most, but it had combined DNA with the freezing rain to form the hybrid Frow (patent pending).  That took a little more effort to clear at first because I had to smash the Frow like it was an evil enchanted mirror.

Snow MiserOnce I had smashed it into easy to handle shards, I simply pushed it all to the side of the driveway.  I feared that every time I looked into a shard of Frow, I would see Snow Miser’s ugly reflection laughing at me, but I never got to the hallucination stage of my morning shoveling routine.

The street was an icy mess, so I spent some time clearing that as well.  The last thing I want is for someone to spin out in front of The House on the Hill, or for Zombie Car to go skidding once its tires hit the street after the descent of the steep driveway.

It’s supposed to turn all to rain and then stop completely around 10AM, but I see that more precipitation is expected around 5PM.  Snow Miser does know my daily commute quite well.  Since temps are supposed to climb into the 40s today (heat wave!) I’m hoping the afternoon mess will be rain, and the sun will come out (Little Orphan Annie promised it would!) and melt any ice left over from the morning.

The House on the HillJust another exciting meeting of The Hump Day Snow Shoveling Society.  Perhaps you can join me next time, and I’ll have the interns make us some hot cocoa.

That’s it for now from a snowy, chilly House on the Hill.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday and a safe commute!

I like your name better than Wintry Mix, which I’ve thought sounded like it belongs in a bowl next to the raisins and nuts. Frow. Good one. Let it be gone completely for your drive home, Austin.

My wife bought me a snow blower this year – which means it’s not going to snow much in Niagara at all…
