How I Miss The 40s

cold tempsYou don’t realize

How much

You miss something

Until it’s gone.

Lately,

I find myself

Longing for

The 40s.

It was

A simpler time.

Life was better,

I was happier,

The world was…

More alive!

While thoughts

Of the 4os

Might warm

My heart,

Those memories

Do nothing

To warm my

Frigid body.

Once again,

I awakened

To temperatures

Below zero.

The world

Is a frozen gulag.

I’m tired of

Seeing my breath,

Of wrapping

My face

In a scarf,

And having

To warm up

The car

Before I

Can use it.

If the mercury

Could only climb

Into the 40s again,

Life would be

Much more pleasant.

I miss the 40s,

And I pray,

Every night

For their return.

Baby, it’s cold outside.

Brrrr!

Around here the 40’s are considered frigid

We are having temps in the 60’s this weekend during the day with sunshine. Nice after alot of cold & rain . I fear that this is a teaser and we will have to pay somewhere in the future . Cheer up Austin , it can’t snow forever . ☺

  5. I well remember those days in South Dakota and sympathize with you. Find a heater and plant yourself in front of it with a good book and hot chocolate.

I kind of sense this is really getting to you. I’d be just the same I hate the cold weather. I suffer with chilblains on my hands and it isn’t even that cold here! If I was there I’d probably just shrivel up and turn into a blob of chilblains, eh, what a thought.

We had our break today, sneaking to 30, Austin. Tonight we’re losing 40 degrees, they’re saying, to 10 below. Arrrrrrrrgh.
