How To Handle Rejection And Still Make Them Laugh

Nite Show hoopsHappy first day of March, Modern Philosophers!

It’s also Sunday, which means that a new episode of The Nite Show With Danny Cashman aired last night.

As always, many of the jokes I wrote for Danny’s monologue did not make the cut, but they always get a new life on this blog when I share them with you.

Put your hands together, and let’s have a warm Modern Philosopher greeting for the Sunday Rejects!

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Academy Awards last weekend, and the world is still buzzing about the honorary Oscar he awarded himself for his supporting roles in the Harold & Kumar films…

governorMaine has been plagued by very strong winds this winter.  In fact, meteorologists say they were the most powerful winds Maine has seen since Governors Paul LePage and Chris Christie had that all you can eat burrito lunch together right before Election Day…

Rumor has it that the new baseball commissioner is open to the idea of reinstating Pete Rose, thereby making him eligible for the Hall of Fame.  When asked to comment, Rose said, “I feel so confident, I’ve got $5,000 riding on my getting reinstated.”

The Can Am Sled Dog Races are this weekend in Fort Knox.  I don’t know about you, but my money is on the dogs to outrun the sleds…

The State High School Basketball Championship games were held today.  To give the players even more incentive, tournament officials promised that all the players on the winning teams would NOT receive a basketball scholarship to UMaine…

The Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile was damaged when it crashed into a pole earlier this month.  Luckily, mechanics were able to slap on a new bun and a fresh coat of mustard, and it was as good as new…

The third season of House of Cards is now available on Netflix.  The show’s producers are hoping that if it gets picked up for a fourth season, they’ll finally be able to build the house out of bricks…

nite show logoOn this date in history in 1983, the final episode of MASH aired, officially ending the Korean War…

Flashdance: The Musical will be at the Cross Insurance Center this week.  There is no truth to the rumor that the show’s cast plans to dedicate its performance of “Maniac” to Governor LePage…

What did you think of my Rejects, Modern Philosophers?  Did any of them make you laugh?  Did you learn that the best way to deal with rejection is to just keep writing because you will always find an audience?

The Nite Show airs on Saturday nights in Maine.  You can like the show’s Facebook page, watch clips on its You Tube channel, and follow it on Twitter @TheNiteShowMe.

I like the one about Harris giving an honorary Oscar to himself, but I also come from an academia background so the logic and trappings of honorary degrees and such grab at me.
