Blog Pitch Party 2: Pitch Your Blog And Attract New Followers

invitedSince Spring Training has started, I’ve certainly got pitching on my mind, Modern Philosophers.

However, not all pitching is limited to the type that takes place on a baseball field.

I’ve been thinking about the wildly successful Blog Pitch Party I threw back in July, and I thought it was time to host another.

As you know, I’m also a screenwriter.  When I was lived in California, I’d get invited by producers to a pitch meeting.  Basically, they’d ask about my scripts, and then based on a few sentences from me, they’d decide if they were interested in reading any of them.

keep wrtingI thought that same progress would work perfectly with blogs.  Why not bring a little Hollywood to the blogging world, Modern Philosophers?

In the comment section, pitch your blog.  Give us the name, a link, and up to three sentences describing your blog.

If you choose to participate, I ask that you visit at least two of the other blogs that get pitched.  You don’t have to follow them, but just give them a shot.

Here’s how I might pitch my blog in case you’re trying to figure out what the heck I’m talking about…

The Return of the Modern Philosopher: A humorous look at life in Maine from a slightly skewed perspective.  If you want to know what everyday life is like in a Stephen King novel, this is the blog for you.  Deep Thoughts from the shallow end of the pool.

Isn’t that easy?  Doesn’t it sound like fun?  Take a little time to perfect a pitch for your blog, and then share it with my nearly 12,000 followers.

Remember, you’ve only got three sentences, so choose your words wisely.  The trick is to hook them immediately, and make them want to go directly to your blog.

pitchWhen you visit a blog, let them know that you’re part of the Blog Pitch Party, and tell them what you think of their blog.  Hopefully, they will then return the favor and check out your blog.

This is all about meeting other bloggers and discovering great new blogs, while also spreading the word about your own.  Be nice, have fun, and share the Blog Love!

Now give us your best pitch!

  1. http://cornfedcontessa.com/ I’m a witty beauty junkie who likes to make people laugh, and look good at the same time. I’ve been on the planet for 50 plus years, so I know a thing or three about a lot of stuff. Stop by for a chuckle or a product review.

What a great idea 🙂 My name is Aimee. My blog, One Woman,https://onewoman365.wordpress.com/ is about my journey as a survivor of rape and domestic violence. It sounds heavy, but it’s not always. There’s some tidbits about regular life as well.

  3. http://inspirationindulgence.com

I’m on a mission to motivate and inspire YOU to be the best version of yourself. My posts are all about self-improvement. Additionally, there are travel tips, recipes, relationship advice, and more fun stuff. I love connecting with other people! 🙂

  4. Hi there! Thanks so much for the opportunity. I’m tardy to the party, but am excited to connect with more bloggers (and happy to have found your blog, thanks to Twitter!).

I’m a work-at-home mom, so my blog is mostly about different aspects of parenting (ie: why parents should all buy earplugs in bulk at Costco, a small saga about how my toddler accidentally broke my nose, and the intensity of my pride and sadness the day my son got on the bus for his first day of kindergarten).

There’s also randomness, like what it felt like to be a Seahawks fan living in Boston during the Superbowl, and why people who don’t return their carts in the parking lot make me so crazy. I’m freelance journalist, so I will post some of my favorite stories there as well.

Come by and check it out and I look forward to looking at some of these other wonderful blog now. 🙂

  5. Better late than never! This is a great idea, thank you 🙂

I’m a lot of things; I’m a Ph.D. candidate, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a perfectionist, an introvert, a doodler, a scientist, a volunteer, a cake addict, a cat lover, an art journaler, a listener, a mentor AND I have depression. Most of the time I am just overwhelmed and I only get it half right…but, I am trying. Join me as I bumble through life wearing too many hats!

  6. Carol says:

CreekviewCarol: Observations from a house cat who lives with an interesting bunch. Sharing a house with a gay brother who’s obsessed with his abs, a sister that thinks she’s the feline Barbra Streisand, and two moms on a quest to rid the yard of the neighbor’s stray cats that treat the bird feeders as an all-you-can-eat buffet, there’s never a dull moment.

    Thank you!

  7. Lemon Shark: A snarky (not sharky—I don’t believe that’s a word), somewhat salty, down-to-earth look at life, the universe, and everything. And by ‘everything’, I mean writing and parenting with a bit of bitching and flashing for fun. Share a cup of coffee with me as I chat (I won’t judge if you prefer tea but leave my fragments alone).

Hey! My name is Cody, my blog is Not Quite Fatal (www.notquitefatal.wordpress.com) I basically blog because I have a lot to say. Watching drug deals on an Amtrak train, looking for lice in Walmart and observing the depth of life are all part of my charm.

  10. Christine says:

I am an Elementary School Principal and while I love my job, I would really love to be a writer. So, I blog in search of myself and inspiration. On my journey I have found so much more, connections to people and the Universe.

  11. ambradambra says:

My blog ‘The Good the Bad & the Italian’ is an irreverent take on all things Italian. I write about food (but it’s NOT a food blog); selected folklore (but try not to bore) and I admit to inadequacies with photography and gardening, but not family memories which I share at the drop of a hat.
    http://ambradambra.wordpress.com

  12. I’m like many of you trying to find my place in life now that the kids are gone through the things I love sharing ~ photography & music over a cup of coffee with friends in Blogosphere. Curious as a Cathy is a play on words not a blog about cats. See ya soon!

Do you like poetry and fiction that explores love and life in dark but often funny way? Do you want to read about how life has treated a fat, gay, disabled woman and what wisdom she has to impart? 19. Over here at ‘Rants Unto the Ether ,(https://edwardkowalski.wordpress.com) the title speaks for itself. Never expecting comments, when they happen they can enlighten someone’s day.

  20. It took me 20 minutes to get to the end of 750-some posts..thats quite a party! Lets hope Im not too late! I write at Humoring the Goddess: Managing the Madness and Magic of Middle Age http://www.humoringthegoddess.com . Its an irreverant look at life as you get older. The older the goofier, I say. I also do a Sunday Evening Art Gallery where I showcase some pretty unique art! Taking care of my adult-onset A.D.D I guess. Thanks Austin!

I am a first time mom and a newbie blogger. I basically write about my experiences as a mom and random thoughts about everything I could think of at “Diary of a Mother” https://beingamomdiary.wordpress.com. 😊

  23. http://thoughtfulpharaoh.wordpress.com Scintillating science stories coming to you every Wednesday in alphabetical order from the demi-god himself: the Thoughtful Pharaoh. Ever wonder why chickens are technically dinosaurs, why a helium balloon might cost more that $100 by the end of the decaude, or how a parasite found in cat poo may be altering your personality? I was too until I did some research and wrote blog posts about those topics and more!

  24. I’m late to the party!!

https://discoveringratchet.wordpress.com is a collection of (mostly funny) stories (and the occasional rant) from my everyday life as a loud, emotional accountant with a love of boxing and ballet. My blog tracks my bubbling efforts to be less of a bougie princess and grow comfortable in urban settings. Oh, and it details the seemingly endless list of my diversely failed dates, as a single girl, living in Montreal.

I’ll be completing the 2nd portion of this pitch party this week! Looking forward to discovering new bloggers!

And if you want to see the world through the perspective of a Singaporean girl who’s got a bad case of the travel fever and big Hollywood dreams, you should definitely drop by my blog. Wow! I love this idea and I look forward to reading as many new blogs as possible. I am continually blown away by just how much fantastic writing is out there.

    So here’s me: https://athenasantics.wordpress.com/

Tag line: A blog about nothing. Because it’s about everything that happens to be on my mind. I would describe myself as a domestic abuse survivor, a pro-life feminazi, breadwinner for my family of five, Catholic, unapologetic nerd, and amateur social policy engineer. I love art and music of all types, and I love to take other people’s ideas and make them better. Lastly, I love to tell people that they’re wrong – nicely, of course. (What’s that look for? I’m a CPA, so that’s what I do every day – tell people they’re wrong!)

Fear! Sadness! Hopelessness! …is what you WON’T find at this sassy blog that focuses on one chic’s adventure with ankylosing spondylitis, the badass younger sister of rheumatoid arthritis. Funny and honest, this blog looks at how we deal with disease without any of the self-pity monologues you’d expect.

  33. drkottaway says:

Wow. So many comments and blogs to look at!

  40. Creativity is a choice, and I make it—gladly!—every day. You see, I think words make art and photos better. And who doesn’t like a good story?

  41. Thanks for letting me do this Austin – great Idea some great stuff too. An eclectic mix. So here goes.

  42. MittenGirl says:

Hi Everyone! I’m new here (just started this week)

My blog is just some rambles, rants, stories, etc about my life. I have a semi-specific point of view (loss, depression, turning 40, small-apartment living for two, long-term engagement, newly unemployed) but I try not to focus on the bad. So far my posts have been pretty light. I’d love for you to come over and check it out!

  43. Avid Reader: You have never meant a person more in love with books than I and that is definitely shown in the posts I write on my blog. If you want a blog including a bit of funny and emotional writing, I’m your writer. If you want a blog filled with Top Tens, long fandom/blogger/writing news posts, or if you want to sit down and read reviews for 10 seconds, then I’m definitely the person for you 🙂

(Love the idea of this! Definitely going to check out some blogs feat. on here!)

  44. Mootpointis.wordpress.com
Moot point is a debatable question. My blog discusses questions and tries to resolve them until further discussion on them is irrelevant. I attempt to close the deal, end any possibility of further debate as the matter is fully resolved. That is why I call it a blog about nothing and everything.

  45. Valerie says:

I am most definitely late to this party! I am new to this blog thing. I am currently working on two blogs. Visit me at kildanlove.wordpress.com My blog is a little bit of life’s comings and goings and everything in between. Thanks in advance for reading.
