I had one of those dreams last night, Modern Philosophers, where I woke up from it, but went right back into it when I fell asleep again.
Have you ever had such a dreamt? There’s probably a term for it, but I have no idea what it is.
It’s one of those dreams I remembered, though, because it was pretty amazing. I was in Hollywood, preparing to go to the red carpet premiere of a movie in which I had acted and written the screenplay.
There was an out of control amount of buzz around the movie, and it was obvious that everyone involved was going to be a big star.
I was in a tuxedo. I guess this was the sort of event that didn’t allow for formal togas. No biggie, though, since I looked damn good.
One of the more intriguing parts of the dream was that a fellow blogger, who I have been talking to a lot lately, came out to Hollywood to be my date for the premiere.
I was excited to meet her in person since she is extremely awesome, quite easy on the eyes, and she’s become a good friend. Plus, I was sure a movie premiere was really impressive as far as first dates go, especially when I’m the screenwriter and one of the stars.
When I met her at the hotel, however, she told me that she had to bail on the premiere. Turns out that she got called for a job interview, and it was just too good for her to pass up, especially since she was already in California.
Even in my dream, I have horrible luck with dating, Modern Philosophers. I mean, what are the odds she’d fly halfway across the country to be my date for a movie premiere and get a call for a job interview in L.A. while on route?
I eventually learned that the movie had something to do with Superheroes, and that’s why Hollywood was crazy about it. I wouldn’t normally write a Superhero screenplay, but maybe my dream was trying to tell me something.
Furthermore, the cool factor had to do with it being about the Superheroes in high school. The Avengers 90210?
Regardless, we rolled up to the red carpet in limos. There was a huge crowd waiting for us. I’d never been a part of anything so exciting.
Just as I set foot on the sidewalk, my date appeared and took my hand. She looked absolutely stunning in a fancy dress (no, I didn’t ask her who she was wearing!).
She apologized for almost bailing on me, and told me she could always find a job, but she’d never again get to go to my movie premiere with me.
Holding hands, we walked down the red carpet as people shouted my name and asked to take my picture. She tightened her grip on my hand and whispered how excited she was for me, and thanked me for asking her to be my date.
Maybe I’m not such a horrible dater in my dreams, after all…
Sadly, I woke up at that point and could not manage to fall back asleep this time to see how it all ended.
Not a bad dream for a Friday night, right? Let’s hope there’s a sequel…
I love those dreams, I have them a lot. I don’t know the name for them though.
Cool dreams. That’s what I’ll call them. 🙂
Dream or premonition? Got a big idea for a Superhero movie bouncing around inside your head? Maybe it’s time to get to writing it.
Perhaps. Especially if it means I get the girl in the end. 🙂
A star, a hit writing gig and the girl. Can’t ask for much more than that.
No, sir, you cannot. 🙂
Jed beat me to it – I was going to suggest that it was a premonition!
Not the bad date thing, but the film!
I have enough bad dates that I don’t need a premonition of more of them to come. 🙂
We shall see…. 🙂
Maybe your dream is telling you to ask out the girl?
Okay. I’ll think about it. 🙂
Good dream, Austin. When it all comes true, remember us little guys. 🙂
You know it. We already know at least one blogger will be at the premiere with me. 🙂
I’ve been trying to guess who she is, and I think I know. 🙂
Well, it was just s dream. Nothing will ever come of it. 🙂
Not if you don’t open your mouth and invite her to come visit you, it won’t, no, Austin.
I will take that under consideration, Mark. 🙂
I agree with Mark, nothing will happen if you don’t make it happen. Dreams do come true if you really want them to. So take a chance and ask the girl. If she has read this post, she is already expecting a date card anyway! Good luck to you Austin!
Thanks, Michelle. 🙂
You’re welcome. 🙂
Stay tuned for Saturday’s continuation of Friday’s dream.
Leslie
I hope so.
That sounds like a good dream! Dreams are very telling of things going on in our waking lives. 🙂
Interesting. Do you think that means I’ve been giving a lot of thought to writing and starring in a superhero flick, Becky?
I don’t know about the superhero flick part. You say that the movie had so much buzz because it was about superheroes, so maybe subconsciously you think you’d have to write a movie like that to have a lot of buzz from it?
I might’ve been thinking more about the part where I was the luckiest guy on the red carpet because I had the coolest, most beautiful date…
Aw, yeah that part sounded good, too! 🙂
It was my favorite part, especially since she came back at the end. I’ll always be a Hopeless Romantic first… 🙂
Yes, it’s a romantic ending to the dream. That’s good you’re a Hopeless Romantic. 🙂
Yes, I am, and the girl in the dream made me believe that I should never give up on that. She is a very good influence on me. 🙂
I’m glad she’s a good influence. It’s true that you shouldn’t have to give up on that. 🙂
You’re super smart. 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
It’s also nice to engage in conversation with someone so intelligent. Keeps my brain working… 🙂
“The Avengers 90210.” Oh, gawd, double will-not-see.
…I have no idea who that other blogger is. None at all. 😉 Okay, I’m probably wrong, as always…
