Some Good Shots On A Great Friday

easter eggsI urged you yesterday, Modern Philosophers, to turn Good Friday into a Great Friday.

I did my part by going on a date last night.  I had a very good time and it felt great.

Since it was a beautiful night, I once again, decided to walk from The House on the Hill, across the bridge, and into Bangor.

Here are some photos from my journey….

Friday 10The Penobscot River from my side of the bridge.  Technically, I don’t own this particular side of the bridge, but you get my point.

It was 63 degrees when I left The House on the Hill, but the river was still covered in ice.

Friday 9I did notice that the ice was cracking  Plus, there were so many more of those exploding exit holes in the ice.  What exactly is escaping from the Penobscot River and causing such a disturbance upon doing so?

Friday 8There was actually a little bit of water visible as I got near the center of the bridge!

I guess the warmer weather is finally doing something to free the river from its icy prison.

Friday 7In this longer shot out towards the other bridge, even more water was visible.  Of course, it’s snowing right now, so for all I know, the ice is reforming and the river will never again see the light of day…

Friday 6The sun setting over Bangor.  That meant that in addition to it being Good Friday, Passover was also beginning.  Happy Passover, Modern Philosophers!

Friday 5I find the dirty ice to be very disturbing.  Can we at least send someone down there to clean it or paint it?  It makes it seem like Mainers are a filthy people!

Friday 4Since it was Good Friday, I wanted to get a shot of one of Bangor’s many churches.  I do love their mighty steeples, and think that gives the place a true New England feel.

Friday 3The sun was setting over the Hall of Justice as I was walking down from the bridge to the bar.  I thought this was a pretty cool shot.

Friday 2Reframed things to get another church steeple in the shot.  Something about this photo just screams of Good Friday to me.

Friday 1Just love the blue sky, the setting sun, and the silhouetted buildings.  One of the many reasons why I think Maine is awesome.  A final shot on a great Friday…

Hope you enjoyed this little Good Friday walking tour.  Have a great weekend!
