Trump 2016: Let’s Make America Riot Again

When Donald Trump says he wants to make America great again, is he referring to the good old days of rioting, racism, and hatred? That's not an America I want, so Trump is not the leader for me!Do you remember the days, Modern Philosophers, when Americans used to riot in the streets?

And I’m not talking about the times when it happened in a city after its team won or lost a major sporting event.

I’m referencing the darker, scarier times when the issue at hand was far more important than which group of athletes scored more points.

Donald Trump says he wants to make America great again, but after what happened at that Trump rally in Chicago the other night, I’m curious about how he defines “great”.

It’s kind of hard to miss what happened in Chicago.  The events of that evening have been all over the news and social media.  What I have to wonder, Modern Philosophers, is whether Trump is upset about what happened, or is secretly thrilled that his message has riled up the American people in such a manner.

To be honest, I still don’t believe Trump wants to be President.  I think this is all an attempt to get even more attention, stroke his ego, and thumb up his nose at the Republican establishment.

Someone in the Republican Party must have offended Trump, or wouldn’t give him what he wanted, and this is his way to get revenge.

He has certainly made America aware that he wants something done about illegal immigrants, that he thinks our politicians make horrible trade agreements, and that American companies should not be allowed to leave the country to conduct their business elsewhere without a fight.

Any other American who’d want his voice heard on such issues would be limited to writing to his Congressman, or sending an editorial to his local paper.

Trump 2016: Let's Make America Riot Again! | The Return of the Modern PhilosopherTrump is a billionaire without a filter, and those options are simply beneath him.  So he just decided to run for President to get his issues shoved to the forefront of the political debate.

He’s been on the news and all over social media non-stop for the past eight months.  America certainly knows how he feels about those issues, and Trump has started to use his press conferences to plug his products.

Were you watching the primary coverage on Tuesday night when Trump took to the stage accompanied by many of the items he sells?

It was like one long infomercial speckled with threats, hatred, boasts, and plans for America’s future.  Trump Steaks got some much needed air time, and probably would have beaten Marco (Polo!) Rubio in head to head polling that evening.

At least after the near riot at the Chicago rally, Trump might have found a new use for all those Trump Steaks he really wanted America to know still existed…

I’m sure Trump Water was also very popular after the Chicago rally when those in attendance, as well as those watching it all at home, wanted to wash the taste of the evening out of their mouths.

And after what happened in Chicago, could Trump Riot Police be far behind?

Believe it or not, Modern Philosophers, I do not buy what Trump is selling.  And he is selling a lot right now to a confused, engaged, and enraged public.

Trump Steaks are perfect for treating that black eye you might receive at a Trump rally! If Trump really does want to make America great again, my gut feeling is that he only wants to make it great for him and his bank account.

I could be wrong, but this is America, and I am still entitled to my opinion, right?  At least until President Trump makes his changes to the Constitution…

Now let’s not riot over the Deep Thoughts shared in this post.  If you disagree with what I have to say, let’s talk it out like mature, rational, sane adults.  I can even grill up a few Modern Philosopher Pork Chops while we chat…

What do you think about this latest incident as the Trump 2016 Campaign steamrolls across America, Modern Philosophers?  Who do you blame for the chaos and violence at the Chicago rally?  Do you think Trump really wants to be President?

My thoughts in one word: scary. Wait, two words: f’n scary. Sadly, I have become more wound up about this as weeks go by. It’s a pattern I’ve watched escalate with his rhetoric over the last month so I feel he shoulders most of the blame (organized protest or not).

  2. Found this very interesting and well-written. Please check out my new politics blog and give it some support if you can

  3. I watched a really interesting video where Trump supporters were agreeing with quotes from their leader. Except, they were actually from Hitler instead. Scary.

Backwards … rather than forward. The “trump” way! Beware, America …

  7. What’s terrifying to me, beyond the obvious, is the number of people who have absolute RAGE against whole groups of people. The country was ripe for this; an unwinnable war, unspeakably frightening terrorism around the world, and a vanishing middle class. The perfect storm for forming a cult of personality and scapegoating others. As a species, we never seem to learn. On the bright side, I absolutely love that you say Marco (Polo!). That’s the first thing I think of when I hear Marco! All those summers spent at the pool…

I’m glad this post spoke to you because Trump likes to think he is speaking for Americans, but he is not speaking for me. There is a scary amount of hate in this country. What the hell happened to America???

      • I think when the economy is good and everyone has a job, people are less prone to this crap. And even though Obama has done a remarkable job with the economy, considering what he inherited, a lot of people are worse off than they were 10 years ago, and they want someone to blame. Sadly, I’ve also come to accept that a lot of the hatred toward Obama (I mean, absolute vitriol!) is thinly disguised racism. Trump has made it A-OK to be an outspoken racist again. It was all running just under the surface.

This sounds way too much like Germany in the 1930s…

Personally, I am convinced that what happened at the Chicago Rally was planned. He planned this rally in downtown Chicago in a University setting.which is known for its diversity. Although DT’s people have screened and vetted attendees in previous events, he did nothing of the kind in this instance. He lied about consulting with the local police before he decided to cancel this rally as police spokespeople publicly countered his claim.

Without the vetting and without Mr. Trump in attendance to dampen down tempers, the outcome was easily foreseeable. Mr. Trump is using this event to further rile up his followers as he plays the part of a victim.

For us non US readers of your fine blog this is gonna be a fun summer (as always in election years)
For you, my US friends I fear. Both the major candidates have (imho) major issues, but I think in regards to foreign politics (and even more the foreign perception of your country) Trump will be a disaster. He might make America great again in the eye of the Americans, I am afraid you will become the laughing stock for the rest of the world.

not sure though if Hillary will fair better though with all the controversy surrounding her. I am afraid she lost a lot of her credibility as “democrat” in the eyes of many. However I think she can never be worse then Dump… uh Trump

      I like Bernie. 🙂

      • Mavadelo says:

Bernie for President, that would indeed be awesome 🙂 If I could vote in your elections he would be my choice as well but I think he is to much of a socialist type to ever be accepted. There seems to be a deep rooted fear against socialism in your country (unfortunately says this socialist) and if the right wing nuts think Obama was a socialist…. well, they are in for a shock with Bernie. I do hope he will get the nomination but it is a small chance

      • Austin says:

There’s still hope. Tomorrow is a big day in the primaries, so we shall see!

He’s done well to make politics entertaining. Peowple love to be entertained. My wife just told me if he’s elected I have to go for my Canadian citizenship.

  11. When I first heard that the Donald was running for President, I believed it was a ploy by the DNC and Clinton to turn the GOP upside down. After the Riot Rally, now I really believe my theory.

  12. When voting, I’m going with a write-in: Trump Steaks.
