And I’m not talking about the times when it happened in a city after its team won or lost a major sporting event.
I’m referencing the darker, scarier times when the issue at hand was far more important than which group of athletes scored more points.
Donald Trump says he wants to make America great again, but after what happened at that Trump rally in Chicago the other night, I’m curious about how he defines “great”.
It’s kind of hard to miss what happened in Chicago. The events of that evening have been all over the news and social media. What I have to wonder, Modern Philosophers, is whether Trump is upset about what happened, or is secretly thrilled that his message has riled up the American people in such a manner.
To be honest, I still don’t believe Trump wants to be President. I think this is all an attempt to get even more attention, stroke his ego, and thumb up his nose at the Republican establishment.
Someone in the Republican Party must have offended Trump, or wouldn’t give him what he wanted, and this is his way to get revenge.
He has certainly made America aware that he wants something done about illegal immigrants, that he thinks our politicians make horrible trade agreements, and that American companies should not be allowed to leave the country to conduct their business elsewhere without a fight.
Any other American who’d want his voice heard on such issues would be limited to writing to his Congressman, or sending an editorial to his local paper.
He’s been on the news and all over social media non-stop for the past eight months. America certainly knows how he feels about those issues, and Trump has started to use his press conferences to plug his products.
Were you watching the primary coverage on Tuesday night when Trump took to the stage accompanied by many of the items he sells?
It was like one long infomercial speckled with threats, hatred, boasts, and plans for America’s future. Trump Steaks got some much needed air time, and probably would have beaten Marco (Polo!) Rubio in head to head polling that evening.
At least after the near riot at the Chicago rally, Trump might have found a new use for all those Trump Steaks he really wanted America to know still existed…
I’m sure Trump Water was also very popular after the Chicago rally when those in attendance, as well as those watching it all at home, wanted to wash the taste of the evening out of their mouths.
And after what happened in Chicago, could Trump Riot Police be far behind?
Believe it or not, Modern Philosophers, I do not buy what Trump is selling. And he is selling a lot right now to a confused, engaged, and enraged public.
I could be wrong, but this is America, and I am still entitled to my opinion, right? At least until President Trump makes his changes to the Constitution…
Now let’s not riot over the Deep Thoughts shared in this post. If you disagree with what I have to say, let’s talk it out like mature, rational, sane adults. I can even grill up a few Modern Philosopher Pork Chops while we chat…
What do you think about this latest incident as the Trump 2016 Campaign steamrolls across America, Modern Philosophers? Who do you blame for the chaos and violence at the Chicago rally? Do you think Trump really wants to be President?
