I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the state of our planet, and remind you of one simple thing…
No matter where you’re from, the color of your skin, your religious beliefs, your sexual orientation, your political affiliation, or your financial situation, you will always be an Earthling.
I’ve never understood why we don’t think of ourselves as such. After all, calling this planet home is the one thing that unites us.
My name is Austin, and I’m an Earthling.
Try it. Listen to how it rolls off your tongue. See how simple it is to identify yourself?
Rather than focusing on what makes us different, why not shine the spotlight on what makes us all the same?
We’re Earthlings. This is our planet. Our one and only home. We’ve yet to discover any other planet out there that can support human life. So Earth is pretty much the old ball and chain, which means that we need to learn to live with each other.
How hard can that be? Why must we make it so difficult?
Let’s all just write in “Earthling” every time we need to fill out a form that asks us to identify ourselves as a member of a group.
If we’re all just Team Earth, there would be less paperwork to complete and far fewer problems on this beautiful planet of ours.
It’s not like any of us can pull a Brexit and vote to leave the Earth Union.
We’re stuck here, like billions of castaways on this beautiful, big, blue marble.
So why not just all get along? Can we put aside all the bickering, table the hatred, call off the wars, and give peace a chance?
And let’s throw in a whole lot of love while we’re at it.
I’m sure some of you must think I’m incredibly naive if I truly believe we can all be lumped under that one, enormous Earthling umbrella, so let me give you a different perspective…
When the Aliens finally invade Earth, and we all know that they’re coming, who do you think they are going to annihilate and/or enslave? Americans? Whites? Republicans? Christians? Heterosexuals?
No. The Aliens are coming for Earthlings.
They could care less about race, religion, or any other affiliation. Unlike us, the Aliens know nothing about discrimination. They just want to eliminate the Earthlings.
So let’s be more like the Aliens (well without the enslaving and annihilating), and look at the world on a planetary level.
Be an Earthling. Love your fellow Earthling.
Maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll save our planet in the process.
Thanks for listening!
Your fellow Earthling,
Austin

DITTO!!
Aren’t you cute? Don’t you think the aliens will appreciate all the different flavors we come in? But you are right. We must find our common humanity and somehow learn to get along. Thanks for this post.
I’m glad you liked it, fellow Earthling! 🙂
Love this.
Thank you. Feel free to share and spread the word. 🙂
Always.

This is an awesome post! I love it. I’m going to have to reblog this on my blog sometime this week. It’s just too good!
Thanks, Lisa!
Funny, I was just blogging how my own terminal uniqueness almost killed me. Not until I reunited with my earth family did I become whole. Great post. Thank you!
You are welcome. Thanks for reading!
Lovely sentiment, wouldn’t it be fabulous ..
I’m trying, fellow Earthling. 🙂
Damn it Austin, why is it so difficult for everyone to just get along and leave each other in peace ..
I’ve never been able to solve that riddle. I guess we’ll see what happens when the Aliens finally invade…
If they’ve any sense they will shake their blobby heads and fly right past on their way to another galaxy far far away – taking Trump with them
I doubt they’d ever come here seeking intelligent life. They’d only want us for food, enslavement, or as a pit stop for refueling on their way to a planet that actually hosts intelligent life…
Do you think this has ever occurred to those that keep looking for alien life, that we should be careful what we seek for?
I’m not sure what’s going on inside their heads. I just wish they were searching for peace and love instead of aliens..
Well said, fellow earthling!
Thanks. I have my moments! 🙂
So simple, yet so sound.
Thanks, John!
