What Would You Do If I Gave You $10?

humor, philosophy, Modern Philosopher, free money, wish list, spending spreeLet’s lighten up things around here, Modern Philosophers.

Here’s a post that screams for participation, and I’d like to see the comments section overflowing with your replies.  Feel free to answer more than once.  This is a fun post meant to generate Deep Thoughts and Positive Moods.

I love replying to your comments, and I need a distraction, so let’s keep me busy.  You have my word that I won’t pass off the task to my interns.

So here’s my philosophical softball that I’m asking you all to smack out of the park:

What would you do if I gave you $10?

Be greedy.  Be generous.  Be frugal.  Pay it forward.  Have fun.  If you’re going to do something illegal with it, don’t boast about it on here (this is a family friendly blog!).

It’s $10 for you to do with as you please.

No, Modern Philosophers, I will not actually be giving any of you $10.  This is not a contest where the best answer wins $10.  No money will actually switch hands.

Got it?

To kick off things, I’ll tell you what I’d do with a free $10.

It’s in the 90s today, extremely humid, I’m bored out of my mind on this confusing vacation, and The House on the Hill doesn’t have air conditioning.

movies, popcorn, soda, summer movies, philosophy, Modern PhilosopherUnless I could find an AC unit for $10, I would spend the money by going to a matinee at the local movie theater.  If there’s any money left over from the cost of a ticket, I’d buy some popcorn or a soda.

Since it’s the Summer Movie Season, and I haven’t been to the cinema since I saw The Force Awakens, I’d try to stretch that $10 by sneaking into as many movies as possible.  And take advantage of the free refills on my popcorn, of course, as I chill in the air conditioning.

If, for some odd reason, the movie theater was closed, I’d use my $10 to buy all the fixings for a huge hot fudge sundae.  Ice cream would be the perfect medicine to battle this draining summer heat wave.  I’d make sure there was some whipped cream and Reese’s Pieces to go with the ice cream and hot fudge.

How great does that sound?

My third choice, since I’m trying to encourage multiple answers from all participants, would be to buy a really good paperback book, and then get lost in its pages down in the basement bunker.  It’s much cooler down there, and I’d bring down a comfy chair and a bottle of Snapple, and be in no rush to return to the first floor.

See how easy that was?  Now it’s time for you to play along.  I want this to be the most commented upon post this blog has had all year.  Think you can make that happen?

Please share this post all over social media so your friends can play along, too!

Thanks.  Enjoy your $10!

I won’t give you $10, but I’d appreciate it if you followed me on Pinterest!

Well to be honest I would probably hand it back to you I am from the North and we don’t trust people like that.

    1. Buy a fun new cat toy for our cats.
    2. We don’t have central A/C but we can sit under the ceiling fan in the living room. I would rent a couple of movies for the weekend that we can watch while cooling off under the fan.
    3. Go nuts at the dollar store!
    4. Hand it back to you and tell you to get yourself something nice!

  3. Buy a lottery ticket and if it won donate the proceeds to charity. Here in NZ, at least, if it didn’t win the most of the $10 would go to supporting the arts. (Many of the Lotteries Commission grants here are for the arts.)

  4. Aditi says:

Buy a paperback and buy someone a meal

  5. The Hook says:

I’m so at the movies… or the comic book store.

I love this idea! But, boy do I feel pressure! I want to say something generous and kind so that random strangers who read your blog (and your comments) will think nice things about me. But to be honest, I would probably tuck the ten spot into this special place in my MetroCard holder where I keep ’emergency cash’. You know, for times — and places — where credit cards just won’t do.

  7. This is easy! I would buy a special treat for my 2 rescue dogs. Although, I would be a little leery of someone handing me a 10 spot.
