Never Let Those Bridges Burn

Never burn bridges, relationships, love, friends, poetry, humor, life lessons, Modern PhilosopherWith all

The journeys

Life leads

Us on,

We’re bound

To circle back

To roads

Once traveled,

That we never

We’d see

When we

Find ourselves

In a place

Once so well known,

But now

Completely forgotten,

We’re going

To need

The bridges

We left behind.

Our instinct

Will push us

To burn

Those bridges

As we flee.

Leave no way

For the enemy

To follow.

Buy us time

To run

To the freedom

That at the moment,

Looks so tempting.

Fight that feeling!

Don’t burn

Those bridges.

They could

End up being

The only

Way back

To a place

We might

One day

Miss so much

That we’d do

Almost anything

To see again.

Life rarely

Makes sense,

But it seldom

Appears logical

When we’re

For our lives

From a future

We fear

Won’t fulfill us.

Trust me

When I tell you:

Never let

Those bridges burn.

While it’s

Always possible

To rebuild

We’ve destroyed,

Time is never

On our side,

And what’s new

Is never

The same

As what was.

Run if

You feel

It’s the only option,

But leaveLeave your birdges standing, friendship, love, relationships, philosophy, life, poetry, humor, Modern Philosopher

The bridges standing.

You’ll need them again

When you come to

Your senses.

Follow me on Pinterest.  I won’t throw you off a bridge if you don’t, but you’ll miss out on so much…

Where are you? No blog for two days r you ok

      • Austin says:

Wednesday was a planned day off to recharge the battery and let the creative juices flow unencumbered.

Last night, I was a little under the weather. I was curled up on the couch with a big bowl of soup and some ginger ale, trying to fend off the nasty stomach bug that’s been rampaging through the office.

Thanks for noticing I’ve been gone. 🙂

  3. I’m going to disagree with you on this one. Chronic cheaters, liars, physical/mental/emotional abusers- nope. If you had been in the relationship I was in, you’d torch that bridge and destroy any road remotely near it. Sometimes you definitely need to burn that bridge and never look back.
