Confessions of a Rain Walker

walking in the rain, alone with my thoughts, coping skills, poetry, humor, Modern PhilosopherWhy do you always

Look at me

So strangely

After I tell you

I’ve been walking

In the rain?

I know I’m

Incredibly sweet,

But that

Doesn’t mean

I’m made

Of sugar,

So don’t worry

That the raindrops

Will cause me

To melt.

The fact

Of the matter,

Since I’m being

Perfectly honest,

Is that I like

The solitude

The rain

Has to offer.

No one else

Seems to grasp

That the rain

Provides perfect cover

From life’s

Less appealing elements.

I can count on

Having the world

To myself.

Only the morons

Aren’t smart enough

To come in

Out of the rain,

And those morons

Are too busy

Enjoying themselves

To cause me

Any trouble.

I am not above

Stomping wildly

In a puddle

To cast out

The demon

More commonly known

As stress.

When I walk

In the rain,

I let the current

Be my guide,

Pulling me towards

A happier place,

As it washes away

My sins.

In the rain,

No one hears

Me singing

Incredibly off key,

As I add

To my rapidly growing

Collection of steps

On my fitness tracker.

Instead of

Looking at me

Strangely

When I come in

Out of the rain,

You should be

Asking yourself

Why you weren’t

Out there

With me.

Trust me,

A walk

In the rain

Is what

Everyone

Needs…

After you follow me out into the rain, you should also follow me on my blog and on Pinterest!

i like the rain too, and never use an umbrella –

  2. I never use an umbrella, either. Soft rain, yes. Not only that, but I sometimes walk when it is snowing, because I love the way it makes everything seem hushed.

  4. Love this! It reminds me of a song (which of course I can’t remember right now). I got caught in the rain walking my dog yesterday, I wish I could say we enjoyed it… I do love watching the rain from inside, though! I have the perfect spot on my couch where I can relax and watch the rain fall, while snuggled up with a blankie. 😉

I LOVE the rain, pal – and I love what you’ve done with your appreciation for God’s tears.

I love this! I agree – walking the rain can be therapeutic. Thank you for posting 🙂

  7. Silly Mummy says:

I hate rain! But actually I do love coming in from the rain and getting dry and warm and then watching it from inside.
