Go Away, 2017

New Year's Eve, Happy New Year, poetry, humor, Modern PhilosopherI’m not one

To stay up

Until midnight

To toast

The arrival

Of the New Year.

There is no

Special someone

Waiting excitedly

For a

New Year’s kiss.

Most likely,

I will be

Sound asleep

When the Earth completes

Yet another

Revolution

Around the sun.

That doesn’t mean,

However,

That I am not

Ridiculously overjoyed

To see 2017

Hitting the bricks.

Goodbye, 2017.

Don’t make me

Have to call

Security

To escort you

To your

Place in history

On the

Space/Time Continuum.

You were

Twelve ugly months

I simply

Cannot wait

To forget.

Go away, 2017.

May you be

A distant memory

By the time

I awaken.

A new chapter

Begins tomorrow,

After the nightmare

Mercifully ends

At midnight.

Take a hike, 2017.

Your services

Are no longer needed.

Happy New Year!

We survived!

  1. You read my mind! Worst. Year. Ever. In so many personal ways for me, but also in the the big picture. 2018 has a lot to live up to, for many of us looking to it to deliver something better and make up for the crap year before it. Hope it doesn’t crack under pressure.

    I agree, buddy, 20167 sucked rocks…
