Dream Ghost

poetry, lost love, relationships, nightmares, Modern PhilosopherWhy

Do you

Insist upon

Haunting

My dreams?

You

Gave up

On loving me

Ages ago.

I never

Think about you

During

My waking hours,

Yet lately,

Far too often

To be good

For my sanity,

You

Choose to visit

When I am

Helpless

Against

Your charms.

You

Broke your vows

Then you

Crushed my heart,

But

Late at night,

When I am

Sound asleep,

You

Come to me,

And you

Love me

Like you did

When we were

Stupid

College kids.

I have

No power

To resist you,

Nor

Do I wish

To fight

My feelings

For you.

In

My dreams,

You are

Even more

Beautiful

Than when we

Wandered around

NYU…

Two crazy kids,

Falling in love,

For all

The wrong reasons.

Why

Do I dream

About you?

You

Devastated me,

Left me alone,

Broke a promise

You made

Before God

And our families.

But now,

When I dream

About you,

I am madly

In love.

I remember

Why

I fell

Into you

Totally

And without

A moment’s

Hesitation.

When

You appear

In my dreams,

You

Are perfect.

You smile,

And I forget

The last

Fourteen years

Of solitude.

Why

Do you

Insist upon

Haunting

My dreams?

Haven’t

You already

Hurt me

Enough

For the scars

To last

Beyond

A lifetime?

  1. The Hook says:

You need Venkman and Company, Austin.
    Or Dr. Phil.
