Unwind and Be Free

poetry, humor, Friday, Modern PhilosopherWe mustn’t

Allow our minds

To submit

To the

Stressful thoughts

That hold them

Hostage all week

As we

Sleepwalk

Through

The work day.

Participation

In the Rat Race

Might be

A requirement

In order

To keep

Food on

The table,

And a roof

Above

Our heads,

But a mind

Is a terrible

Thing

To feed to

The Stress Monster.

So unwind

And be free.

The weekend

Has arrived!

Leave behind,

Locked away

In a desk drawer,

The thoughts

That stain

Your brain,

Weaken

Your will,

And crush

Your soul.

Once the

Timeclock

Has offered

Parole,

Sprint

To Freedom,

Do not

Look back,

Flush your mind

Of anything

Related

To your job.

If you’re not

Getting paid,

Don’t waste

A brain cell

On work.

Unwind

And be free!

The weekend

Is here.

Don’t you dare

Even think

About Monday!

Yes, Austin, I am unwinding big time, my friend, with the extra special thought that I have all next week off for a staycation to continue the Big Relax From Work as well.

Those lines are fire!! I’ll keep these in mind as I sleepwalk through my last few workdays! I’m actually quitting my job because that place is a soul sucker. Thanks so much for this.
