Since I like keeping you guys happy almost as much as I hate being annoyed by the interns, I thought I’d update you tonight.
It’s been about a month since Cassie and Cleo came join Cali and I at The House on the Hill. As I shared previously, it was rough going at first.
Cleo was always hissing and growling at any life form that got within her line of sight.
Cassie was extremely shy and hid under the bed all day.
Poor Cali was confused as to why her Daddy had brought a couple of troublemakers into her house to disrupt the peace.
We have definitely made progress, but I still keep a spray bottle of water handy in case a cat fight beaks out.
I should probably keep a bottle of a stronger liquid handy as well to help me with the stress, but I’m not much of a drinker.
The other night, I came in from writing on the porch to discover this scene…
I suspected that something was up. Daddy was out on the porch writing, so they decided to have a sit down to settle some cat business, and I accidentally walked in on it before the meeting was finished.
But perhaps they weren’t up to mischief. I’ve definitely noticed that they have been in closer proximity to each other without as much hissing and tough girl nonsense.
In fact, Cali and Cassie have really taken a shine to each other…
I’ve long suspected that Cali missed Luna, who passed away a year ago last Sunday. Now, when I see her and Cassie chasing each other around, I know that it was a good idea to get my little black cat some company.
The two of them eat next to each other every morning and night, and I can usually find them just hanging out together when The House on the Hill gets too quiet.
As for Cleo, who was downright mean when I first brought her home, she has made tremendous strides in the absolutely adorable department.
Take this photo for example…
She has taken to licking me, and she makes happy sounds, rather than scary ones, when I pet her. She still swats at me once in a while, but I’m beginning to realize that’s just her was of being playful.
Cleo no longer hides up in my room all day, and has found fun new places to hang out during the day. She is definitely acting more comfortable in her new home.
Sure, she still growls at Cali and then runs away, but that is happening less, and it seems like she is just unsure of her new sister, rather than looking to fight her.
This pic really got a lot of great reactions on Facebook the other day…
The shelves get awesome direct sunlight during the day, and the kitties love napping there. Cali really blends in with the black blanket, so I sometimes don’t even see her if she has her eyes closed when I walk past.
I’ve come to realize that Cassie is a fan of Stephen Colbert…
Life at The Cat House on the Hill is definitely good. I love that Cleo and Cassie are settling in, and that Cali enjoys having company.
The three of them are just so darn adorable, and it warms my heart whenever I see them.
Yes, I am the Crazy Cat Guy, and I’m totally okay with that.
