Comments Wanted, Reply Within

blogging, blog love, interaction, humor, Modern PhilosopherDo you know what one of my favorite things about blogging is, Modern Philosophers?

It’s getting to interact with you.

When I first started this blog, I was down and out, and really missing The Girl Who Moved Away.

I needed a distraction, and someone to talk to because I was so alone.

Then you guys starting sending me comments about my blog posts.

Suddenly, I had dozens of new pen pals, and numerous conversations to keep me from dwelling on how much I missed my special someone.

Something else I love about blogging is the instant feedback I get on my writing.  When I send off a screenplay to some Hollywood type, I might never get any reply.  If I do, it usually takes weeks or even months.

But I write a blog post, and minutes later, I’m hearing your thoughts on my writing.

What writer wouldn’t love that?

blogging, blog love, interaction, humor, Modern PhilosopherSo why am I bringing this up today?

Well, I can’t help but notice that comments on my posts are way down.  I’m still getting a ton of views, but very few people are taking the time to send me a comment after they finish a post.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect a comment every time you read a post.  I just like it.  And I miss it when it’s gone.

Let me give a big shout out to my buddy Mark B, who comments on pretty much every post he reads.  Mark, I really love it, appreciate it, and hope you’ll never stop.

I know some of my posts are totally ridiculous, and there’s not always something for you to comment on, but I’m just putting it out there that I really love it when you guys write to me, and I’d love for there to be more comments.

I mean, I am paying rent for that comments section, so why not use it?

Maybe could we start with this post.  Your comment doesn’t even have to be related to what you’ve just read.  Say hi.  Tell me about your day.  Share a joke.  Comment on the world around you.  I just want to hear from you!

blogging, blog love, interaction, humor, Modern PhilosopherI hope that’s not too much to ask.  Let’s spread a little Blog Love.  Share some Deep Thoughts.  Let me know you’re out there.

I hope to hear from you soon.  Thanks for reading and putting up with my silliness!

You guys make blogging a blast!  Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend…

    Where is the devil?

    • Austin says:

The Devil is on vacation, Carol. He knew I was off, so he decided to take a break of his own. How are you today? Getting your steps in?

      • cbiz50 says:

Okay…he can keep busy elsewhere. At the health club on the treadmill. Not near 10,000 yet! I am so behind today. You know I will get them in. Will not accept anything below 15000

      • Austin says:

I ran 4.6 miles this morning, so I had 10,000 out of the way before breakfast. 😛

Of course, I’ve been lazy on vacation all week and it’s been really hot here, so steps are down. Keep going! You’re doing great. 🙂

Hello ( well good night really) from the other side of the pond. Sending you some Welsh luck.
    Hugs

  5. Bryntin says:

I spend so much effort on stringing some words together for my blog I rarely have many left for comments on others. Phew.
    See, exhausted now! 😉

I’ve been dealing with some personal issues, but I’ll try to leave more comments on your future posts. You have a great blog that often brings a smile to my face.

  7. I just posted about my weekend 😉

  8. Joseph Nebus says:

Oh gosh, I always figure to leave more comments, but when I try to think of something to say it always comes out, “You put a big pile of words together! That’s a thing!” and I feel like I should say something deeper instead.

Maybe U.S. folks are busier in the summer, Austin? I hope the commenting picks up come the cooler months. You certainly come with interesting angles …

  10. D. Parker says:

While I read (and share) every single post, Austin, I admit I don’t comment often, not just on your posts, but most. 1) Not enough time in the day and 2) I don’t always feel I have something to add, maybe I’m going about it all wrong, maybe I should just stop by and give a neighbourly, Hi-diddly-ho! Blogneighbour-eeno!
Hope you had a wonder-filled vacation, hey, you see waterfalls when running, life must be wonderful. 😉
Wishing you a week filled with peace, love, and understanding, blogneighbour-eeno!!! 🙂

Maybe it’s a widespread thing, then? I consider myself lucky if a post I put out gets even one comment, and especially successful if I get two.

  12. The Fullmetal Narcissist says:

I have, in my last six posts. Nothing.

  13. dorianc4 says:

I completely understand the need/want for comments. I am a new blogger and it helps to know that others are reading your blog and what they think of it. Blog on!
