Three Day Weekends Are The Bomb

vacation, humor, summer, Modern PhilosopherPlease excuse me, Modern Philosophers, if I’m not using hip, modern lingo properly.  After all, I am just a quirky introvert who rarely leaves the safe confines of The House on the Hill.  So I don’t rub elbows with trend setting hipsters like the rest of you.

Regardless of the above mentioned nonsense, I truly do believe that three day weekends are the bomb!

I have a severe work ethic and a remarkable immune system, so I rarely miss work.  As a result, I often get annoying emails from HR begging me to take time off before I break the company record for most accumulated vacation time.

Since I’m not really the long vacation type, as traveling isn’t my thing, nor is going to strange places, being around people, or leaving the house for that matter, I tend to sprinkle days off throughout my summer to make for three day weekends.

Which explains why I am off today, and enjoying this gorgeous summer day out on the porch of The House on the Hill.

It’s been a very relaxing weekend.  The Yankees were on TV in Maine for the past three days, so I’ve been able to watch them, while commenting on the games in real time with my new friends on Yankees Twitter.

USWNT, World Cup, summer, humor, Modern PhilosopherToday, I decided to show my national pride by rooting on the US Women’s Soccer Team as they played in the World Cup.

The match took place in France, and they were playing Spain, so I kept with the international theme and grabbed some Chinese food for lunch.

Don’t give me a yellow card for my unhealthy food choices!  I ran over three miles this morning, and then spent far too much time pulling up the bamboo jungle that had returned behind The House on the Hill.

Bamboo removal is no fun, but I did work up a massive sweat, so I really needed the General Tso’s Chicken to prevent myself from passing out.

Team USA won the match, and that was very cool.

Speaking of national pride, I made a trip to Walmart as part of my three day weekend festivities.  I try to avoid that store, so it needs to be a special occasion like a long weekend before I will allow myself to pass through its doors.

This time, I was in search of a patriotic tee shirt to wear for our Red, White, and BBQ scheduled for Wednesday.  We’re decorating the office in the colors of the flag, and we’re supposed to dress in them as a well (dress in the colors, not in American flags!).

While I already have a red, white, and blue shirt in my wardrobe, I didn’t think it radiated the level of patriotism I wanted.  But I think my new purchase does.

Tell me if you agree…

fashion, patriotism, humor, Modern PhilosopherI’m pretty sure this shirt is the bomb diggity, if I’m using that term correctly.  I mean, the cat is wearing an Uncle Sam hat, and riding a bomb pop, presumably to the moon, where he will plant an American flag and purr God Bless America.

Have you ever seen a more all-American tee shirt?

I didn’t think so.

life, vacation, humor, Modern PhilosopherThe rest of my time has been spent relaxing.  That’s what a three day weekend is all about, my friends.  I have been out on the porch reading, as well as working on my next big story idea.

I’ve also been doing a great service to the neighborhood by showing off my sexy runner’s legs while doing said relaxing out on the porch.

All in all, it has been a wonderful weekend.  One worthy of the bomb squad, but I hope they don’t defuse this bomb quite yet.

There’s still plenty of time left in my three day weekend, and I’m definitely not done enjoying it yet…

What do you like to do when you have a long weekend?

long weekends I read, go for a walk, Netflix, play video games. I also do laundry, clean the house, shop, do dishes, etc. I try to limit the yucky stuff, though. 🙂
