This just in from the Petagon (I love that animals call it that!): Dogs and Mice have signed a Peace Treaty, while also forming a powerful alliance. While the war between dogs and mice was never very intense, this armistice is considered to be a major step in creating a universal peace between all creatures.
Dog House Spokesdog Fido told this Modern Philosopher: “We are proud to announce this agreement with our tiny rodent friends. While they might not always be welcomed in the homes of our owners, we are now happy to share a domicile with our beady eyed, cheese loving friends. Let there be peace.”
Mickey (no, not THAT Mickey) the Mouse House Spokesrodent added: “Our days of fearing our canine compatriots has finally come to an end. We look forward to years of peace and fun with our drooling, tail chasing amigos.”
While the mood of the day was all cheese cubes and milk bones, not everyone believes this is a paw in the direction of peace. Conspiracy theorists lit up the Interpet and Tweety with comments about how this is simply a misdirection, and that a Pet War is more imminent than ever.
Tweetied 9Lives4Eva: “Am I the only one who sees the truth? Our two fiercest enemies joining forces? I’d stake one of my lives on the fact that we’re in trouble!”
Posted SunLovinNapper on the Cat House Blog: “Holy Hairball! I know we always land on our feet, but where can we fall safely now with dogs and mice waiting to pounce???”
I turned to my personal expert on Feline Philosophy for his views on this debate. Does Banky, my little black cat, think this Alliance is good news or a move of aggression against cats? When I posed the question, Banky was curled up in the sunny spot at the end of the love seat. He promised to ponder on it and get back to me after his nap.
It’s been five hours since he started that nap, so I’m just going to have to put him down as a “No Comment”. However, me thinks that he can’t be too worried if he’s been able to nap for that long. Then again, cats are pretty mellow creatures…
What do you think, Modern Philosophers? Are you upbeat about this news from the Pet World, or are you cynical about the true reason for the alliance? Ask your pets and get back to me. If any of them are willing to go on the record, I’d love to interview them for this blog.
Let’s hope this truly is good news. Can’t we all just pass the catnip pipe and get along?
There’s always hope.
I’d like to think so, especially given that it’s the start of the holiday season…
I think the cats are in trouble & the mice just gained a very powerful ally against them… Cat pounces a mouse & dog will pounce cat.
My kitty is curled up next to me, purring, and I shielded his eyes from your comments…
My dogs lying next to me grinned when I scolded them…
Touche…
Reblogged this on The Return of the Modern Philosopher and commented:
Here’s one from the early days of the blog. Any thoughts on how the alliance is working out, 8 months later?
LOL No idea, but my parrot seems to think it’s phantastically phunny!
Ha! I’ve always wondered how the other animals would align themselves should such a war break out. I doubt the parrots would want to be on the same side as the cats…
Probably why he finds it so hilarious….
Can you teach him to read my blog posts aloud? That would be awesome. We could make him a mini toga!
He’s a crotchety sort of fellow with a sick and twisted sense of humour….I think the short answer might be ‘no’ lol
Darn…
I know, right?
Hey – I can’t even get my 2 cats to get along. So a no comment from me.
Hmmm…maybe one of them is a spy working with the dogs and mice??? 😉
I relayed the situation to my cat, Pebbles…and she too opted to “sleep on it”…alas…typical non committal response we are used to today!
Cats do a lot of thinking while sleeping. They are Deep Thinkers…
Cats rule.. dogs drool? 😀
You would know. Don’t you own both?
Yep.. and it’s definitely true lol.
🙂
I like how the savvy Mouse House PR department is using a not-so-bright hamster as a front man! One good toss of the head and that puppy has lunch included in his photo shoot….
I told the interns to get me a photo of a mouse on a dog’s head. That was from the very early days of this blog, and those interns have since been replaced…
Good help is hard to find…
Back in the old days of the blog it was, but ever since that Survivor Maine post went viral, I’ve needed interns to help me deal with all the people who show up at The House on the Hill to volunteer to be interns…
Ah, the price of fame!
Exactly! 😉
