The Pep Talk

ConstellationsThank you

For the

Pep talk

Earlier.

You always

Know

Exactly

What I need

To hear.

I could

Tell myself

The exact

Same things,

But they

Would carry

Half the weight

Since they

Weren’t coming

From you.

Since you’ve

Been gone,

I’ve lost

Direction.

The field

Seems to

Stretch on

Forever.

There’ no

Finish line

In sight.

I’ve lost

My motivation,

My focus,

My will

To succeed.

Winning doesn’t

Mean anything

Without you here

To celebrate

With me.

My killer instinct

Has become

Passive aggressive.

I’m not saying

That nothing

Really matters

To me

Any more,

But you

Can assume

That idea

Is implied.

I miss you.

Not just

Because

I always

Wanted to

Kick ass

To impress you,

But because

Seeing how

Proud you

Were of me

Was all

The inspiration

I ever needed.

It also helped

That you

Kissed me

Quite often

When I

Reached for

The stars,

And brought

You home

A bouquet

Of constellations…

WONDERFUL POETRY FROM A WONDERFULLY CREATIVE ARTISTE!!!

  3. It’s sweet and all, but the format…why do I keep thinking of sketchy cell phone reception?

Oh wow. Beautiful and gut wrenching. Thanks Austin.
