For the
Pep talk
Earlier.
You always
Know
Exactly
What I need
To hear.
I could
Tell myself
The exact
Same things,
But they
Would carry
Half the weight
Since they
Weren’t coming
From you.
Since you’ve
Been gone,
I’ve lost
Direction.
The field
Seems to
Stretch on
Forever.
There’ no
Finish line
In sight.
I’ve lost
My motivation,
My focus,
My will
To succeed.
Winning doesn’t
Mean anything
Without you here
To celebrate
With me.
My killer instinct
Has become
Passive aggressive.
I’m not saying
That nothing
Really matters
To me
Any more,
But you
Can assume
That idea
Is implied.
I miss you.
Not just
Because
I always
Wanted to
Kick ass
To impress you,
But because
Seeing how
Proud you
Were of me
Was all
The inspiration
I ever needed.
It also helped
That you
Kissed me
Quite often
When I
Reached for
The stars,
And brought
You home
A bouquet
Of constellations…
awww
I know, right?:)

This is a very nice poem, Austin. Sweet.
Reblogged this on THE MARVELOUS MUMFORD and commented:
WONDERFUL POETRY FROM A WONDERFULLY CREATIVE ARTISTE!!!
It’s sweet and all, but the format…why do I keep thinking of sketchy cell phone reception?
I don’t know. Why do you keep thinking that?
So much for creative imagination. (sigh)
I just didn’t follow what you were saying. Sorry…
Words in a sentence coming at you only a few at a time with pauses in between:
1. Poetry
2. Cell phone conversation breaking up
3. Tourist in Brazil speaking Portuguese for the first time.
Now I get you. π
To be truthful, I write them that way to force readers to open the reader and read the entire poem….
And you are a genius for it. America likes its treats bite-sized.
Speaking of which, outta Doritos…going shopping.
Everyone loves some Doritos. π
Oh wow. Beautiful and gut wrenching. Thanks Austin.
I’m glad you liked it. the Hopeless Romantic does enjoy taking over the blog once in a while. π
Love this!
Thank you. Hope you will continue reading and hang around for a while. π
It would be my pleasure!
Woo hoo! Always looking for new Modern Philosophers. π
Lovely π
Why thank you. I do have my sweet, romantic moments. π
You do…Love must be in the air?
Love is always in the air, but the recipient of it is far away… π¦
I know! This makes me sad. π¦
