Just a quick post to say hello, Modern Philosophers, and to let you know that I will be at The Gracie Theatre tonight for the next taping of The Nite Show With Danny Cashman!
I can’t wait to get there because I’m really looking forward to meeting one of tonight’s guests, and I hope that being one of the show’s writers will allow me the chance to say hi and get a picture with him.
Who’s the guest I’m dying to see?
It’s The Count from Sesame Street! If I tried to count the reasons why his stopping by The Nite Show is super cool, I’d miss the taping.
So let’s just leave it at the fact that I’m as giddy as the little school boy who used to watch Sesame Street, and always looked forward to The Count’s appearance.
Speaking of Vampires, Ana, my favorite Vampire of all, will be attending tonight’s taping with me. I’m extremely excited about that as well.
I’ve never had a friend in attendance aside from the time I appeared on the show as a guest, so it will be a blast to give her a tour, enjoy the show with her, and have her there for me to point out which monologue jokes were mine.
I wish more of my friends would come to the tapings (hint, hint!!!).
I was not a happy camper when I woke up this morning and checked the Maine election results. I did find inspiration in them, however. Although still half asleep, I wrote maybe twenty jokes about Governor LePage and emailed them to Danny.
It was nice to have a creative outlet for my frustration, and I hope that some of my angry jokes make it into the first show’s monologue.
As always, I will do my best to tweet my thoughts and share photos from The Gracie. I’ve been writing for The Nite Show a year now, and I seem to get more excited with every taping. For those of you who are writers, I hope you get to experience the rush I get when I sit in the theater and listen to the audience laugh at something I’ve written.
It’s Magic, Modern Philosophers.
Based on how the evening goes, I will do my best later to write a post about the taping. Cross your fingers that all goes well.
And please don’t be too jealous that I get to meet The Count!
maybe you can show off your counting prowess and impress him!
He was so funny. A riot to be honest!
Love, love LOVE the Count! He recorded the only version of “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” that I can bear. And he was in my all time favorite Sesame Street sketch with Guy Smiley where he Won the Whole Wide World.
The Count might have mentioned that song tonight. Just posted some photos in my new blog post!
Here’s to big, magical things at the Gracie, Austin. 🙂
Thanks, Mark. The night went very well!
