A Monday Hater’s Sunday Prayer

A Sunday Prayer, Mondays suck, the weekend, poetry, satire, sarcasm, humor, Modern PhilosopherO Higher Power,

Please do

Whatever it is

That you do

To ensure

That this Sunday

Lasts forever.

We are granted

This day of rest

To help us

Recover from

The work week,

Put our troubles

Behind us,

And get our heads

On right

So we are able

To face

Another week.

Why is it then,

That our Sundays

Never drag on

Endlessly

Like, say,

And I’m just being

Totally random here…

A Monday?

I need my rest,

Omniscient Being

Who controls time,

Space, and apparently,

My sanity.

Please let

This Sunday

Move at a

Snail’s pace.

I’ve got

A wicked headache,

Something’s not right

With my stomach,

And I really

Just want

To veg

On the couch

And watch football.

If I look

At the clock

And find

That it’s almost

Time for bed,

I’m seriously

Gonna lose

My $%^&!

I never ask

For much,

Heck, I rarely

Pray at all,

So you kinda

Owe me this one.

I can’t deal with

Monday

Right now.

If you know

What’s good

For the universe,

And I’m told

That’s kinda

Your thing to know,

You’ll answer

My Sunday prayer

And see to it

That I find

Some peace.

Thanks

For taking

The time

On a busy Sunday

To listen to me,

Your humble servant.

Don’t worry,

The irony

Of my asking you

To work

On a Sunday

Isn’t lost

On me.

I’m thinking

It’s something

Along the lines

Of poetic justice.

Rock on,

O Higher Power.

Amen.

We had so many snow days that the schools are making kids go tomorrow, so no holiday here! Weekends can go by so fast.

  6. Louise says:

Ha ha i agree if i didn’t work sundays… Won’t you get a day off for president trump s day?

    • Austin says:

Tomorrow is a national holiday, but we still have to work. My job is bad for morale…

      • Louise says:

how can Martin Luther King day be bad for your morale.??? God this guy is one of your National Treasures…. As for work, think how he would have faced the day? remember ‘walk a mile in someone elses shoes’thing… Hey theres a great topic for you to visit. swap roles with martin..

      • Austin says:

What’s bad for morale, Louise, is having to work on a day when most people are off. Because it’s a holiday…

      • Louise says:

Well do some of your writing on company time. If its anything like here the main bosses will be making sure they’ve got the day off…lol

      • Austin says:

That would not have gone over well!

  7. Not only do I like it…I love it! Not only is it relatable, it also made me laugh–which engenders additional comfort and connection. Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚
