Little white dress
That waits in the
Closet of my heart.
It is the
Most beautiful dress
I have ever seen,
And it just happens
To be your size.
You know how
I feel about
The white dress.
It is a dress
Of little white lies.
At least that is
What I’ve learned
From previous experience.
The little white dress
Should only be worn
Once…
A most special occasion.
I can’t help but think
How gorgeous
You would look
Were you to wear it.
There are times
When I try to sleep
In the bed that’s
So empty since
You’ve been gone,
And I imagine you
Wearing this item
That I’ve mentioned.
In my thoughts,
You look like
An angel,
Perfection in white,
Love personified
And put on display.
Do you have
Any idea
Just how much
I think of that
Little white dress
And how happy
You’d make me
If you wore it
For me?
There is a
Little white dress
Being ignored
In the closet
Of my heart.
When are you
Going to claim it?
Nice work, Austin, but I would shy away from using the word garment in a love poem. It triggers thoughts of the dry cleaner’s ticket.
Garment is a fun word! 🙂
It also is forever attached to bag.
I see…
I’ve edited the word out of the poem. Happy?
I was just joshing. Sorry.
No, you have demanded an edit, and it has been done!!!
–30–
Now I feel bad. It really was a good poem, like I said truthfully before I went smart-ass on you.
🙂
I’m curious. Where was the word “garment,” and what did you replace it with?
I believe I replaced it with the word “item” at the end of one of the lines…
This is too sweet, nice piece, i wonder is who’s closet my dress is waiting.
Hmmm…I’ll guess you’ll just have to be patient and wait.
So… attacking random guys and ravaging their closets is out of the question?
Go for it. Just keep a good lawyer on retainer…
I want a dress with such power!
You’ve got to make it yourself, and then put it in that special someone’s heart closet for safe keeping… 🙂
Indeed, something to be tended to everyday !
A heart keeps away the moths and the elements. 🙂
Awe, I have to work on finding a closet to put the little white dress in.
Exactly. If you make it, he will store it for you until the time is right. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this on Twitter. 🙂
Oh, Doc. I love it when you get all smushy. Really lovely piece! 🙂
Thank you. The Hopeless Romantic took over the blog again. He loves to ramble on about love… 🙂
A dialogue set in motion by a dream within a dream…all in white…
I’m glad you liked it…
Hers is in the closet…our closet!!! Excellent job, Oh Master of the Mushy Stuff!!!
Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. I can’t be funny all the time. I gets boring… 😉

What is the real chance that the white dress will be put on? This piece makes me feel really sad.
Don’t let it make you sad…
Love it!
